Text Box: The origin of Halloween and many of its customs can be traced to Samhain; an ancient pagan Celtic festival that was celebrated in whit is now Great Britain to mark the end of harvest time and the beginning of the new year.  The two-day celebration began at sundown on October 31.
The ancient Celts believed that the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead was at its thinnest during Samhain, thereby making it a good time to communicate with the deceased and to divine the future.  It was

Following the triumph of the Holy Roman Empire over Celt-occupied lands in the 1st century A.D., the Romans incorporated many of the Celtic traditions, including Samhain, with their own.
Eight hundred years later, the Roman Catholic Church further modified Samhain, designating November 1 as All Saints Day, in honor of all Catholic saints. It was celebrated with a mass, bonfires, and people costumed as angels and saints parading
Text Box: November I was also known as All Hallows’ Day (hallow means to sanctify or make holy).  October 31 was called all Hallows’ Eve.  Overtime, All Hallows ‘ Eve was shortened to Hallows’ Eve, which became Halloween Evening, which became Hallowe’en and, eventually, Halloween.

Text Box: One of the owners father loves to show up and walk through the staff, eliciting a shudder and a gasp.
Customers have reported seeing an elderly lady browsing among the books .and some staff have reported the presence of a nice looking young man.
One ghost loves to leave books lying on the floor, usually during the month of October..
One of the most perplexing anomalies to happen in our present location occurred not long after we had opened the store for business.
Three adult and seemingly sane women witnessed the case of the disappearing customer.  We were standing around the front counter discussing advertising when
Text Box: Our daily lives are filled with the presence of our own resident spirits and a few that wander through from time to time.
Two or three of our ghosts are family members that belong with the original land our building was constructed on. Others have arrived due to vehicle accidents and some just come in with our customers.
Luckily our staff  has learned to deal with them and not run out screaming into the parking lot.
Our first ghost made it’s presence noticed during the remodeling of the store prior to opening.  It loved to change the channels on the workmen's radios, totally freaking them out I might add.
Text Box: we noticed this nice looking young man approach the counter.  We turned to help him and he disappeared into thin air before our very eyes.
We watched the rest of the customers closely for the remainder of the day but they all made it safely to the check out.
If you are in our store and suddenly feel like someone is watching you or find an invisible hand pushing a book out of the shelf towards you, just say hi.   They mean no harm.
Please feel free to drop by during business hours and chat with the staff about our ghosts.  Check out the pictures of the orbs while you are there.  Don’t forget that October is paranormal month at The Crystal Barn.
